Bess Bistro on Pecan
500 W. Sixth Street
Stratford Arms Building
After four years in the planning, Sandra
Bullock’s restaurant opened to rave reviews
in November of 2006. Located in the basement of the Stratford Arms building, in
what was originally the Stratford Apartments built in 1918, Bess’s kitchen is
located in what had been the building’s
bank vault. The setting is intimate, casual
elegance amidst the historic brick columns
and arches, iron railings and old timbers.
Bess’s menu is best described as old South
comfort food with a European flair.
